Hello! My
name is Brittany Murray and I am a rising senior at Meredith College anticipating graduation in May 2013. I am majoring in Child Development, minoring
in Psychology, and obtaining my Birth through Kindergarten license to
teach. I am taking this class because I
have a passion for animals and I enjoy taking pictures. I have never taken photography before;
however, I enjoy looking at pictures and taking pictures, too. I want to learn more about photography and
help animals in the process. I want to
learn the best ways to manipulate my digital camera. I am also excited to keep a blog about my
volunteer experience at the Wake County Animal Shelter and post my photographs
in the blog. It is my hope that after
taking this class I will feel more confident about taking photographs with my
digital camera and help animals find homes.
I am most looking forward to learning the many different ways to capture
the animal on my camera and how to make the animal more adoptable in
photographs. Before this class, I just
use my digital camera at events and special moments to capture memories. I do not know a great deal about photography;
however, I am looking forward to learning more during my six weeks in the
course! I am looking forward to
volunteering at the Wake County Animal Shelter and spending time with the
animals!
I am nervous and intimidated because I have never taken a photography class or worked at an animal shelter. I have a tender heart and worry that I will become sad during my experiences at the shelter; however, I know that through this class I am helping the animals! I have never edited photos through a software program and I hope that I catch on and am able to learn all of the many things about the software program and editing pictures. I am intimidated that I will be new to the shelter and not as knowledgeable as the staff who works there. I plan to work hard to learn all that I can from this course and my time at the Wake County Animal Shelter! I have not taken online classes before but in my Child Development classes, we do have “online classes” in which we meet online instead of face-to-face three or four times during the course of the class. I expect to have to keep up with the work for this class and remain flexible. I also expect that even though the class is online, I will still be responsible for completing my assignments and attending class when we do meet face-to-face. I also expect to spend time completing my volunteer hours and editing the photographs. I understand that the syllabus can change and I must remain flexible and keep up with the work load as we will not attend class each day.

So glad to have you in the class and it is great to meet you. I appreciate your dedication and commitment to hard work!
